Powered paragliding is the simplest form of flight: no plane, no windows, just you floating on air. A powered paraglider is a foot-launched inflatable wing. The paraglider itself has no rigid structure and the pilot is suspended by lines. The pilot is clipped into a harness and the motor is a backpack unit with propeller to give thrust allowing you to climb and fly level at your own will.
Paramotor flying is just you and the most personal aircraft ever devised. You throttle up and the wheels start to turn. Your wing fills with air and springs to life, coming overhead as you squeeze a handheld trigger to throttle up. And soon you are flying.
The United States Powered Paragliding Association (USPPA) was formed in 2001 and joined NAA as an official air sport organization in 2020. With over 1,500 members, USPPA's mission is to promote powered paragliding to both current and potential enthusiasts and to preserve and expand pilots’ opportunities to fly.
