Dear NAA Members and Friends, NAA is planning a cross-country air race for for electric propulsion aircraft! On July 21, Scott Neumann, Director of the Pulitzer Electric Aircraft Race, announced plans at the virtual Electric Aircraft Symposium to resume the Pulitzer air races first held in the 1920’s. The winner of the race would be awarded the Pulitzer Trophy, on display at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. Dear NAA Members and Friends, On June 15, NAA announced that United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Joel W. Bier and Lieutenant Colonel Leif C. Nordhagen, the aircrew of Hawg 53 flight, were named as the recipients of the 2020 Mackay Trophy. The Mackay Trophy was first presented by Clarence Mackay in 1912 and was later deeded to the NAA. Dear NAA Members and Friends, The winners of the 2021 U.S. National Youth Aviation Art Contest have been selected by the contest’s managing organization, the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO), in partnership with NAA. The annual contest is part of a larger international effort to inspire youth to illustrate the importance of aviation through art.
